Seretide ( Advair, Serevent (salmeterol xinafoate) and Flixotide (fluticasone propionate) )

Uses: The uses of Seretide ( Advair, Serevent (salmeterol xinafoate) and Flixotide (fluticasone propionate) ) include: Seretide / Advair. MDI or Diskus®(has a combination of Serevent® and Flovent® in one inhaler). Seretide™(Advair) contains Serevent™ (salmeterol xinafoate) and Flixotide™ (fluticasone propionate) in one MDI inhaler. Fluticasone propionate should not be confused with other steroids such as anabolic steroids misused by some athletes and taken as tablets or injection. When you take these two ingredients together regularly they will both help to control your breathing difficulties. Seretide (Advair) inhaler contains a suspension of salmeterol xinafoate and fluticasone propionate in CFC-free propellant, HFA 134a. The medicine is contained in a pressurised can, with a mouthpiece and an 'actuator'. Each time the actuator is pressed a dose of the medicine is released. Each can contains 120 doses of the medicine. Each dose contains 25 micrograms (mcg) salmeterol (as xinafoate) and 50, 125 or 250 mcg fluticasone propionate. How your medicine works - Salmeterol xinafoate is one of a group of medicines called bronchodilators. It relaxes the muscles in the walls of the small air passages in the lungs. This helps to open the airways and makes it easier for air to get in and out of the lungs. The effects of salmeterol xinafoate last for at least 12 hours. When it is taken regularly it helps the small air passages to remain open. Fluticasone propionate is one of a group of medicines called corticosteriods which are often referred to simply as steroids. Corticosteroids are used to treat breathing problems because they have an anti-inflammatory action. Corticosteroids also help to prevent attacks of asthma. What is Seretide (Advair) Inhaler used for? Your doctor has chosen this medicine to suit you and your condition. Seretide inhaler is used to help with breathing problems in people who need regular treatment. It is very important that you use your Seretide inhaler every day, as instructed by your doctor. This will help you to keep free of symptoms throughout the day and night. Seretide (Advair) inhaler should not be used to relieve a sudden attach of breathlessness or wheezing. If you get this sort of attack you must use a quick acting inhaler (eg. Ventolin) also known as a reliever puffer. If you feel you are getting breathless or wheezy more often than normal, or you are using your inhaler more than usual, you should go to your doctor. Uses: The uses of SERETIDE ACCUHALER ( Advair Diskus, Salmeterol, Fluticasone ) include: Advair (FLUTICASONE AND SALMETEROL) is a combination "controller" medicine for long-term treatment to prevent or decrease the symptoms of asthma and chronic lung diseases such as emphysema, bronchitis, or copd.

(Reuters Health) - Children's visits to the emergency room for serious food-allergy reactions may be on the rise, if the experience of one major U.S. medical center is an indicator. Researchers at Children's Hospital Boston found that the number of food-induced allergic reactions treated in their ER more than doubled over six years -- from 164 cases in 2001, to 391 in 2006. There was an even sharper increase in the number of more serious, and sometimes life-threatening, reactions known as anaphylaxis. Signs and symptoms of anaphylaxis include skin reactions like hives and flushed or pale skin; nausea, vomiting or diarrhea; dizziness or fainting; difficulty breathing; and a sudden drop in blood pressure that can lead to shock. In 2001, the current study found, there were 78 cases of food-induced anaphylaxis; in 2006, that number was 207. That corresponded to a rate of 15 anaphylaxis cases for every 10,000 ER visits in 2001, and a rate of 38 per 10,000 in 2006, the researchers report in the Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology. The reasons for the increases cannot be gleaned from the data. But the findings are in line with studies pointing to a general increase in food allergies among U.S. children in recent years, first author Dr. Susan A. Rudders told Reuters Health in an email. According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 3 million school-aged children in the U.S. had a food allergy in 2007, which was up 18 percent from 10 years earlier.

Any person who suspects they are suffering from a medical condition, problem, disorder should prompty seek the assistance of a professional and qualified health care provider.
